Victory over our dearest rivals!
Well done to the Year 7, 8 and 9 Rugby teams who recorded victories over Plymouth College this week.

Plymouth College have, to be honest, had ‘one over’ on us in recent years.

A new dawn for rugger at DHSB?

On-line behaviour

Parents will have received an update from us this week about homework. It’s important for parents to supervise and manage their sons when on-line to ensure they are working on what they should be doing before spending time gaming or socialising.

Here’s an item about managing on-line behaviour from the BBC education news page today.

Resources for Parents

Recent school documents are available on our new Parents and Students webpage where you will also find useful video tutorials from Amanda Moore, our Parent Support Advisor.

Abbots Way Challenge

Last weekend saw the annual Abbots Way walk. Thank you to Mr Ames who enabled DHSB students to participate in the challenge. He has sent me this short report.

Ten Tors training got off to a great start on Sunday with two DHSB teams entered in the annual Abbots Way challenge. This is a 24 mile East to West walk across Dartmoor from Buckfast Abbey to Tavistock following an ancient route once used by the monks.

Ninety teams entered the challenge and DHSB team one (James Watt, David Lee, Taogh McDonough, Max Smith, Josh Porter, Jonathan Stoecker and Tom Chiappe) crossed the moors in an incredible 5 hours 53 minutes, finishing third overall and setting a new DHSB record!

DHSB team two (Laura Kennington, Chris Turner, Cian Kinsella, Dan Harris, George Irving and Mr Ames) finished a very respectable 26th with a time of 7 hours 8 minutes.

Congratulations to all those who took part, including Lucas Reeley in Year 9, who walked with his Scouts and Milly Atkinson in Year 12, who walked with Dartmoor Plodders.

Also a big thank you to Mrs Heighway who moved the minibus from Buckfast to Tavistock.

If I was running a photo competition this week then the winner would be Mr Orkney with this image from the U15 national cup match v Torquay Boys.
