Following our Christmas jumper mufti day and the charity week at the end of last term I can now reveal that the grand total of £1,400 has been raised by students.
This will be split between the students own chosen charities; St Luke’s Hospice and The Grand Appeal at Bristol Children’s Hospital.

Well done to everyone involved.

Year 8 Options Evening

Last evening’s options event was very well attended by Year 8 students and their families.

During the evening Mr Adams, Deputy Head, said, “Welcome to the GCSE years, the next exciting stage in your educational career. During these years you will grow significantly, not only physically, but in your maturity, confidence and leadership. Our wide offer of super-curricular opportunities such as the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award, the Plymouth Employability Passport, school productions, competitions, house leadership positions, subject clubs, sports and enrichment week activities will contribute significantly to your development. The KS4 years are also full of academic demands from your subject teachers and the examination boards”.

He added, “These years represent a major step on your road to a rewarding and successful career”.

Excellent Work

Several Year 7 Geography students submitted excellent entries to the ‘My Favourite Place’ competition which was judged by Logan Rossiter during his time as DHSB’s Takeover Day Headteacher.

Logan said, “The entries were of very high quality. It was very difficult to choose but the winners are as follows: Kai Watson 7E, Seth Stevens 7C and Laurie Thomson 7C”.

Well done to all who entered and all who were shortlisted.

Peer Mentors

This week I met the group of Peer Mentors who have come to the end of their formal role in school.

It was a pleasure to thank the students for their dedication and to encourage them to continue using the skills and attributes they have developed.

‘Once a peer mentor, always a peer mentor’.

Here the 2018 team is pictured as they started their year in the role.

There was an exciting finish at the U15 Plymouth indoor cricket competition on Thursday.

The team lost to Stoke then beat Plymstock which meant a three-way playoff to decide took the overall number one spot. DHSB then lost to Stoke again and Plymstock which meant we finished in third place.
