13 November 2015

It was with great pleasure that I visited The Early Years exhibition yesterday at Ford Park Cemetery Visitor Centre.

One of our old boys, Dr Ian Hodgins, who you will remember has been researching our school history (see last year’s post about World War One) has curated a wonderful exhibition about the life of the school from its formation in 1896 to the rebirth after the Second World War.

Our school has been at the forefront of education for nearly 120 years and it was fascinating to see that some of our real strengths and core vision and values were in place from the beginning.

A special thank you to Ian for his dedication and commitment on creating the exhibition and I hope you have a chance to visit. We are planning to bring the displays back to school to give more of you the opportunity to see them.

Sports Update

Twenty DHSB students took part in the West Devon Cross Country Championships held at Staddiscombe playing fields on Tuesday. All year groups from Year 7 to 13 were represented.

Notable individual performances included Charlie Sleeman 7W who finished third in the Year 7 race and Jamie Williams 10N who was also third in the inter boys event.

Tom Blackford 6W2 and Harry Edwards 9W also ran well finishing fourth in their respective races.

We now wait to see how many DHSB students will be selected to represent West Devon in the Devon Championships to be held in January.
