Curriculum

We offer a broad, balanced curriculum delivered by skilled, subject specialists. Free options at the end of Year 8 lead to a three-year GCSE programme that encourages breadth with specialist interest. Our staff are innovative with pedagogy and new technology; rich, engaging lessons lead to outstanding results at GCSE and A level.
Key Stage 3 (Year 7 and 8)

Students study courses in Art, Citizenship, Classical Civilisations, Drama, English, Design and Technology, Engineering, Enterprise (Business and ICT), Geography, History, Mathematics, Modern Foreign Languages, Music, Physical Education and Games, Religious Education and Science.

Key Stage 4 (Year 9, 10 and 11)

All students study GCSE courses in Mathematics, English Language and Literature, Biology, Chemistry and Physics.

Students also have a further choice of four GCSE subjects from: Art, Business Studies, Classical Civilisation, Computer Science, Design and Technology, Drama, Engineering, Food Preparation and Nutrition, French, Geography, German, History, Latin, Media Studies, Music, Physical Education, Product Design, Religious Studies and Spanish.

All students also take non-examination courses in Physical Education, Personal, Social and Health Education, Religious Education and Citizenship.

Key Stage 5 (Year 12 and 13)

We offer the following A level courses: Ancient History, Art, Biology, Business, Chemistry, Computer Science, Design and Technology (Product Design), Economics, English Literature, French, German, Geography, Government and Politics, History, Latin, Maths, Further Maths, Media Studies, Physical Education, Physics, Psychology, Religious Studies (Philosophy and Ethics) and Spanish.

Further A level subjects are also available from our consortium schools Devonport High School for Girls, Eggbuckland Community College, Notre Dame Roman Catholic School and St Boniface’s Catholic College.
