It’s out!

This year’s School Magazine is a highly polished Henniker production. It contains some fascinating features and is an excellent representation of school life. On sale next week!

Carol Service

As we move towards the final week of term you are warmly invited to our candlelight Carol Service, led by Year 7 students, at St Andrew’s Church, Royal Parade, on Monday 15 December at 7.00pm. We’d love to see you there.

Fundraising

Students and staff enjoyed the chance to show off their Christmas jumpers yesterday and over £800 was raised for the Save the Children festive appeal.

Also fundraising recently was Owen King 7E who took part in the CHICKS Santa fun run in Callington.

He ran a distance of approximately two miles raising money for CHICKS, a charity that provides free respite breaks for disadvantaged children from across the UK.

Owen raised £350 for this worthwhile cause – well done Owen!

Students in the Capital

Sixth Form students Matt and Lucy were in London earlier this week where they participated in the EU Mock Council in Westminster.

They gave prepared statements on energy efficiency and children in criminal proceedings speaking as an EU country that they were allocated at random.

Ms Moreton said, “In the ornate surroundings of the Locarno Suite at the Foreign and Commonwealth Office Matt and Lucy were excellent delegates, speaking with clarity and conviction for their adopted country, and were honoured to meet a representative from the Cypriot Embassy who had attended especially to meet them. She was very impressed with their level of dedication and commitment, testament not only to them but to the preparation from their teacher, Mr Macleod.”

Worthy of mention this week is Josh Pope who has been elected onto the official Plymouth Argyle Fans Trust Board (AFT). Josh has also passed his level one football coaching assessment.

Congratulation to the DHSB Year 8 Basketball team who took the top spot in the Plymouth League.

Good news also for the Year 7 team who finished second in the competition.

And finally this week there’s something festive afoot in school.
