Roaring trade on the colonnade

Staff and students celebrated the European Day of Languages today with food, music and the opportunity to try out different languages through the day and along the colonnade at morning break.

Student success

Well done to Michael Nutbrown 10C who competed in the National Taekwondo Championship last weekend. He came home with the bronze medal which makes him third in the country in his age and weight category.

Michael won his first match 15-2. His second match ended 4-4 and went to ‘golden point’ (first person to score wins) which he won to get into the semi-finals where he was beaten 6-2 by the eventual gold medal winner.

Harry Hutchinson 6W1 took part in a Golf competition last weekend at the Oak Park Golf Club in Hampshire.

Harry was nominated by St Mellion Club, where he has a golf scholarship, to play in the competition which was billed as ‘Champions of Champions’. Harry did extremely well to finish in first position, also taking the prize for the longest drive. Harry is also a champion in Cornwall, a title he won with his team from St Mellion.

Also in action last weekend were William Freer 8N and Toby Leung 8E. They took the U13 doubles title at the Devon County Badminton Championships.

Toby went on to take the U13 singles title and the U15 doubles competition.

William also won the U13 event west of the Tamar and so holds the title in both Devon and Cornwall.

Well done boys!

Staff success

We love to share staff news too. Mrs Lilley 7S completed the Bristol Half Marathon last weekend in a fast time of 1:34.
