4 July 2014

Our soon to be Year 7s enjoyed a day at DHSB on Tuesday. Mr Martin led the induction to ensure a strong familiarity with the site and culture here in preparation for September.

Thank you to all staff and current students for making it such a successful day.

Our Peer Mentors supported the induction day

The following day we invited prospective students and parents in for Open Evening. The sun shone and the school rang with enthusiastic explanations of our ambitious plans for students at DHSB. A massive effort from all of our people led to some heart-warming feedback from our guests.

Our visitors were also able to enjoy and appreciate our A level Art Exhibition. Again, we have received some very positive comments about the standard of work on display.

Charity News

Well done to Year 7 students who have been fundraising for Lepra, an international charity aiming to ‘change the lives of people affected by disease, poverty and prejudice.’

Students organised various events around the school and collected £1924.09.

Sports News

Many congratulations this week to our Year 7 athletics team who took first place at the West Devon Championships. A fantastic team effort.

Lewis Warner competed at the Kent International Judo Championships held at Crystal Palace last weekend. There were 22 competitors in his category and Lewis took part in six fights on the way to taking the bronze medal. Well done!

And finally, you are all welcome to join us for our Summer Festival on Friday 11 July from 1.45pm.

There will be lots of stalls, music and food to enjoy, and we hope the sun will shine!
