Last Saturday saw over 300 Year 5 pupils on site for our 11+ familiarisation session when boys were given the opportunity to take practice English and Maths exams.
All the materials used are available on our website for families to download and use at home.
If you have a son in Year 5 and you’d like him to take the 11+ tests in September 2017 then don’t forget to complete the registration form.
Please also take the opportunity to visit the school on either Tuesday 4 July at 17.00 or Monday 10 July at 9.00. I will be speaking about our vision and values as well as confirming the arrangements for admission and students will lead tours around our site and subject areas.
Teaching and Learning
DHSB was well represented at the South West Academic Trust (SWAT) Teaching and Learning Conference held at the University of Exeter yesterday.
Mrs Green and a group of students from 8W led a seminar sharing their international links with students at a school in Syria.
Students involved include Lonny Davari-Evans, Robert Derry, Matthew Parker, Charlie Sleeman and Daniel Lidstone.
In addition, Mr Macloed led a seminar encouraging teachers to include and refer to Human Rights across the curriculum. He has shared a link and and contact address for the Human Rights Education Officer at Amnesty for anyone who may wish to find out more.

Excellent Work
Year 8 student Sam Goulden has been learning how to use SolidWorks 3D modelling software. His creative piece was a battle ship (his virtual model is shown on the screen).
Jakub Brudnik 3d printed a model from PLA which Sam is holding in the photograph.
Ms Brown said, “Year 8 students have six weeks to learn how to use the software and they always produce some great work”.
Digital Learning Teachmeet
Mr Forte is hosting a Teachmeet on digital learning in the Learning Commons on 22 June from 4:30pm.
He says that if you have something you would like to share or just fancy popping along to find out more then please sign up here.
