Our new House Leadership team

We are delighted to announce the appointment of our new House Captains for the academic year. With 34 outstanding applications for just 14 positions, the selection process was highly competitive. The calibre of applicants this year was exceptional, making the final decisions incredibly tough for staff.

After much deliberation, we are proud to introduce our new House Leadership team:

Attenborough – Toby Nix and Harshil Girish

Fleming – Vesan Ako and Khushaal Mittapalli

Johnson – Bea Jenkins and Lily Hoare-Hambly

Leslie – Isla McBride and Theo Richardson

Scott – Jay Fox-Hopwood and Agsheyan Praveenthan

Turing – Esme Long and Guy Slavin

Windsor – Barnaby Hunt and Ed Pond

These students now step into their roles with great responsibility and high expectations. With a busy term ahead, they will be hitting the ground running as they lead their Houses and contribute to the wider school community. They also have the added responsibility of recruiting their Vice Captains from our impressive team of Y12 Prefects. Johnson have already welcomed Arthur Munslow and Oscar Ward to their team and Windsor have welcomed Owen Thomas and Erin Clooke to theirs.

Congratulations to all our new House Captains – we’re excited to see what you will achieve!

Students Take Another Opportunity to Celebrate Staff

This week, students are again being given the opportunity to say thank you to members of staff who have made a difference to their school experience this year — and the responses were wonderful to read. It's a lovely example of our students displaying the value of Confidence with Humility, and recognising the contribution of others to our community.

From teachers who make lessons “the highlight of the timetable,” to those who “turn tricky topics into something enjoyable,” students praised the passion, patience, and dedication shown across every department. Many commented on how staff “go above and beyond,” offering support not just academically but personally — from helping with university applications and mental health, to fixing Chromebooks and running clubs and trips.

What shines through most clearly is how students who may have only been here for a short period recognise how much our staff care. Whether it’s a teacher who makes physics “fun and exciting,” a tutor who takes time to check in every morning, or a member of the site team who “helps out all over the school,” every act of kindness and enthusiasm makes a lasting impact.

A huge thank you to all who took time to nominate and also to those who were recognised — and to every member of staff who helps make our school such a positive and inspiring place to learn.

Year 13 Music Careers Workshop

Year 13 A Level Music students have had a great experience playing alongside over 50 other students under the expertise of Tomasso Starace and his professional Jazz outfit at Lipson School. The students were taught how to improvise, perform and function as professional jazz outfit, and some all important Music theory along the way!

They were an excellent representation of the highest standard of musical performance and etiquette, well done Tom, Alex, Dylan, James, Billy, Ethan, Elliot and Tristan.

Year 11 Students Benefit from Year 12 Revision Wisdom

As part of our ongoing support for Year 11 students this year we have created a dedicated lunchtime area for students to revise. Supported by our Year 12 volunteers, these sessions offer not just academic help but real insight into what it takes to succeed in GCSEs and beyond.

Our sixth form mentors have been on hand to share practical study tips, advice on managing stress, and what they wish they’d known this time last year. For Year 11s, it’s a chance to revise in a relaxed, supportive environment while hearing directly from those who have recently been through it.

These sessions run Mon, Tues, Thurs and Friday in the Upper Learning Commons and all year 11 students are welcome.

From a simple print() statement...

Mr Spencer shared this piece of excellent work completed by Jacob (8L). This picture was made in Computer Science. The students were using Python coding language and Jacob created a stem for a flower. Well done!
