13 February 2015

It’s been another very good week at DHSB.

Very well done to our Year 10 football team; through to the final eight of the national cup.

Playing against King’s School, Winchester, the DHSB team was 2-0 down at half time on Tuesday This didn’t upset the team though and they pulled back to win 5-2. Definitely a game of two halves!

The team has a home fixture next and will play Knights Academy, Bromley, in the quarter-final.

Winstanley’s Charity Events

Tuesday was a busy day as Winstanley staged their charity pancake sale at lunchtime. They cooked and served the tasty treats raising £85 for Jeremiah’s Journey.

Well done also to Jack Clench 6W1 who bravely took the Skydive Challenge to raise funds for Jeremiah’s Journey. He has raised over £550 for the Plymouth based Winstanley House charity.

Well done Jack!

Go4SET

Last week two teams of Year 8 and 9 students attended the launch of the Go4SET competition at the National Marine Aquarium.  Go4SET links teams of six students with companies to undertake a ten week project based around Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths.

The launch gave students the opportunity to meet their project mentors, choose the project they wish to work on and begin to plan their meetings and individual roles within the teams.

There were also a few practical tasks such as building the highest helicopter landing pad from paper, which our Year 9 team won with a height of 1.08m.

Overall it was an excellent day, writes Mr Morris, and the teams finished the day eager to start working on their projects.
