It’s been a good week at DHSB!
On Monday students in 8W held a Skype call with students in Homs, Syria.
This was coordinated as part of a project called My Voice-My School which has brought together a network of schools across Europe, the US and the Middle East with the aim of exploring the concept of global education.
The Skype call attracted media attention and the students were featured on the BBC Spotlight news bulletin on Monday evening.
Carol Service
Monday also saw our annual Carol Service led by Year 7 students. The music, singing and readings were all excellent and gave an opportunity to reflect on the meaning of Christmas at this busy time.

Speech Day
On Wednesday we held our annual Speech Day at the Plymouth Guildhall.
We welcomed the Deputy Lord Mayor of Plymouth, Councillor Sam Davey, and our Guest of Honour, Dr Scott Drawer, to this very special event.
Scott is a DHSB old boy currently working for Team Sky (cycling) and Sky (TV) on a new project bringing together colleagues from across numerous domains in sport, music, art, education and business to learn from one another on how to develop human performance.
As part of this project he supports the cycling team in solving problems through science, medicine and technology.
During the evening the music and speeches contributed to our overall theme of Achieving and Celebrating Excellence.
