19 September 2014

Two weeks in and we’re back up to pace in every way.

There are some great stories to share today including photos of the Year 8 game which christened our new Rugby pitch and online developments demonstrating our commitment to connecting with our learning community.

There is a brand new page on our website called Parents and Students (on the Explore menu) where you will find links to Wisepay and Class Charts, and folders with copies of school letters and documents. You may also report lost property here thanks to a new system devised and set up by student Oliver Bredemeyer.

Class Charts (accessible via a secure log-in) will enable parents and students to view up to date information on attendance, rewards and sanctions.

Amanda Moore, our Family Support Adviser, has made a short video outlining the features available which can be seen on the new webpage.  If you have difficulty accessing any of the information then please contact her at amanda.moore@dhsb.org.

Term dates for 2015/16 are now available here. Please note there is one further non-pupil day to be allocated.

Banter and Bullying

Mr Roberts led a powerful whole school assembly on Wednesday about the difference between banter and bullying – an issue we always need to keep at the forefront of our minds.

You can read his slides here – Whole School Assembly

I’ve also shared two videos Mr Roberts used to highlight the effects of bullying. Please be warned these films convey powerful and emotive messages.

Sports News

Last evening saw three keenly fought Rugby matches again arch rivals Ivybridge Community College.

Mr Strang was delighted to report a win for the U14s but Mr Burt (U13) and Mr Orkney (U15) both had to accept defeat for their teams.

The Year 8 game was played on the new DHSB pitch. Mr Burt said afterwards, “Great opening match of the season. Well played both teams. Hard fought victory in the end for Ivybridge 23 – 7.”
