We have enjoyed meeting our visitors from Sweden this week. The Devon-Sweden project gives our staff an opportunity for high-quality staff development and conversations with professional colleagues.

Thank you to Ms Davidson who has co-ordinated and led the programme.

Ms Davidson said, “Thank you to all our colleagues who offered to share their lessons, entertained our guests and engaged with the recent visit of Swedish teachers. Our guests were envious of our school’s climate and culture and in awe of how enthusiastically we embrace experimenting to bring about change and development. As ever, our students represented us beautifully in school and also socially.”

The Sutton Trust

Many congratulations to Sixth Former Alex Waterhouse who has been selected to join a Sutton Trust summer school at Yale University, Massachusetts.

The Sutton Trust is expanding its US programme to give ‘bright, state school students a taste of life at an American university’ and the experience will provide Alex with a wide range of activities to help him make the right decisions about American higher education.

This is a wonderful opportunity and Alex will tell us about his visit when we return to school in September.

History Day

Five Year 7 students enjoyed a day at the Plymouth Museum looking at some Medieval pottery that was found on the Barbican which they sorted and categorised, then packaged and labelled them to help preserve the artefacts.

These will be stored in the museum and later go on display. They also did some archaeological drawings, a chronology exercise and ended the day with some time to explore the museum.

Ms Redfern from St Boniface College said, “They all got involved and helped each other out”.

Well done Sam, Andrew, Ben, Tom and Oscar.
