It’s been another busy and successful week at DHSB culminating in our final whole school assembly today when staff and students met together to take some time to celebrate and reflect on their year in school.
Tuesday saw our annual Sports Day at Brickfields which was a well-organised event enjoyed by the whole school.
Very well done to Priestley House who came first in the overall Sports Day house competition. The House Captains can be seen here collecting the Sports Day cup.
Two school records were broken this year.
Alex Sheridan set a new record for the U15 shot with a new distance of 14.30 (from 14.19). This was a record which has been held since 1970 by Gary Lovell, a former Plymouth Albion player who sadly passed away last year.
The U15 4 x 100m relay team also set a new record of 49.4 (from 49.9).
Well done to everyone who participated in the field and track events or supported their Houses during such a lovely day. There are a few extra images at the foot of this blog today from Alfie Carlisle and Charlie Sumpton.
Crowdfunder Campaign
Many thanks to everyone who supported our 3G all weather pitch Crowdfunder campaign by making a donation or sharing the link. We were delighted to reach our initial target of £40,000 this week.
With just two days to go (the campaign closes at 11.24 on 23 July) the site is still accepting donations towards our stretch target.
16 x 16 Reading
Mrs Steer has shared a new 16 x 16 reading list which has some additional suggestions for summer holiday reading.
Please click this link to see the recommendations and, if you’re in Years 7 – 11, check in with the Learning Commons staff in September to tell them about the books you have enjoyed during the break.
The Native
Our Sixth Form band received great news this week when they were selected (by local vote) to open the stage on day 1 at the MTV Presents festival on Plymouth Hoe next week.
