23 September 2016

This week I met with colleagues from five European countries at CERN, the European organisation for nuclear research, based in Geneva.

Funded by the Erasmus Programme (an EU student exchange programme established in 1987) we met to plan some exciting and creative student projects. I’ll be able to share more details next week.

Mrs Edwards has asked me to highlight our Prevent poster competition. Students are being asked to raise awareness of Prevent and anti-radicalisation in their designs. The closing date is Friday 14 October.

Individual Achievements

One Day Event

Thanks and well done to Pete Reis 6S1 who represented DHSB at the Blundell’s School One Day Event last weekend.

This is Pete’s report of the day.

A one day event combines dressage, show jumping and cross country. I competed at the maximum height of 1m for this event. The day started at 5am with a 7am leave from the yard. Dressage went well with a personal best score of 28.9. Show jumping went well (if you remove the part where I came off due to misjudging the striding going into number two). To finish Hugo stormed through the cross country clear and inside the optimum time to leave us in 20/25. If it wasn’t for the show jumping round we would have finished in fourth place!

Badminton

Congratulations also to Toby Leung 10E who has been selected to represent England again in the U15 eight nations international badminton tournament in Switzerland in November.

A victory too for the Year 10 team v Hele’s School yesterday.

The 1st XI team was disappointed to lose 2 – 1 to BRNC Dartmouth on Wednesday but Mr Manley said he was delighted with the attitude and spirit that our students demonstrated.
