The DHSB School Captain for the coming year is Joshua Daniel (12ESM).
I was overwhelmed by the number of students who applied and impressed by the strength of the candidates. However, there is only one position and Joshua stood out. I am delighted that he has accepted the post and I am sure he will be very successful in his new leadership role.
Our retiring School Captain, William Henwood, will be providing support to Joshua over the next few weeks.
William said, "Josh really blew us all away in the interview process, with such a well-grounded application. To me, in the interview he showed very clear confidence, depth and purity behind his intentions. I feel thrilled to see what he has to offer for the role and look forward to working alongside him in the beginning of his term."
Congratulations Joshua!

Excellent Work Year 9 Business
We have been really impressed by the designs created by Year 9 Business so far. We are currently working on a branding project for a new water bottle. The students have been enjoying taste tests this week and exploring existing brands. Here are some sketch designs of our current ideas.
Well done Year 9 Business!
Mrs Pyle, Teacher of Business

Excellent Work Year 9 Chemistry
Year 9 Chemistry students Frankie (9L), George (9L), Ralph (9L), Jamie (9W), Oliver (9S), Joel (9S), Harley (9A), Kyran (9A), Flynn (9L) and Jason (9S), produced great posters / timelines of the history of the atom. They worked in pairs to research all of the major developments in producing the modern model of the atom. They then had to summarise it in a speedy one minute presentation to the rest of the class!
Well done!

London's River Marathon Success
On 20 September, Charlie Long (Y11) competed in the Great River Race with his crew ‘The Beastie Buoys’. They were representing their club the Cotehele Quay Pilot Gig Club. The boat race, described as 'London's River Marathon', follows a 21.6 mile long route along the Thames from Canary Wharf to Richmond and travels under 28 of London's famous bridges. 267 boats were involved this year and it was a spectacular event with every level of competitor taking part, from dedicated athletes to those who simply like to dress up in fancy dress and raise money for charity.
The Beastie Bouys won the junior trophy as fastest junior boat and were also 18th out of 81 men’s crews taking part.
Well done!

Sparx Maths and Sparx Reader
Each week we celebrate our highest performers in both Sparx Maths and Sparx Reader, two of our core homework platforms. We are proud of all of our students who complete their homework each week to such a high standard but these students deserve a special mention.
Congratulations!
