Well done and thank you to the school community for the compassion and commitment shown in collecting resources for the refugees currently living in the camps at Calais.
In our whole school assembly this week Toby Morgan and Henry Spencer told students and staff that all the donations have reached distribution centres ready to be given to those most in need.
We collected 90 bags of clothing, 20 boxes of food and lots of tents and sleeping bags.
This was a very apt item in Mr Butcher’s assembly. He went on to talk about our use of resources, encouraging us to reduce, re-use and recycle. Mr Butcher concluded, “You can’t change the world unless you change your local community.”

World Book Day

Sports Update
Football
An outstanding result for DHSB A who beat 42 Commando 4 – 3 in the cup (including a great hat-trick from Mr Carpenter).
We can also report an impressive 9 – 1 victory for Year 11 in the Devon Cup this week.
Badminton
Very well done to the U19 team who won the Devon finals this week; they are through to the next round.
The school was very well represented at the finals and the U14 team took silver.
Toby Leung, aged 13 has been selected to represent England in the U15 Home Countries Quandrangular International event in April. He is one of five boys selected from all over UK. Toby’s coach said, “He has great talent and works harder than most children. He will have a great future in badminton”.

Hockey
Mr Orkney said that Hockey at DHSB goes from strength to strength as the U13 A team won all four games at this week’s central venue competition. They remain unbeaten.
The U13 B team drew three matches and lost only one.
