What are you doing now?

I left DHSB in 2006 and headed to Warwick University to study Physics. I then did a PGCE in Manchester and have been teaching Physics ever since. Firstly at Crompton House CofE School on the outskirts of Oldham and more recently at Ilkley Grammar School, North Yorkshire.

I have just heard that one of the Year 13 students I taught for A2 Physics in my NQT year has just started training to be a Physics secondary school teacher.

This was pleasing to find out and made me think of some of my DHSB teachers who inspired me; in particular David Adams, Simon Coombes and Luis Espinosa. Please pass on my thanks to them and to everyone else who taught me.

Mr Coombes and Mr Adams are also partially responsible for developing my passion for the outdoors, something which still burns brightly. Mountaineering has since taken me to Greenland, the European Alps and Kyrgyzstan, although my focus has now shifted in favour of the slightly less risky pastime of fell running.

During my time at Crompton House I gained my mountain leader award and I led the Gold DofE programme.
