Sam Lavis

What are you doing now?

I’m currently serving in the Royal Navy as a Marine Engineer Submariner.

What route did you take up to this point?

I left DHSB and worked with my uncle before applying to join the Royal Navy.

What have you learnt most about yourself?

I have learnt how well I can apply myself to the task at hand and how willing I am to make progress.

Words of wisdom for a Year 7 student?

Study as hard as you can in all subjects to give plenty of options when you leave DHSB.

Also, stay active!

And for a student leaving DHSB?

Look hard at the options available to you and strive to join a profession you will enjoy. Ultimately this will give you your drive to succeed.

Any fond memories of school?

My best memories are of Sports Days. I realise now how much effort the staff put in for students.

Do you have a message for any of your teachers?

Mr Bowden You are a great people person.

Mrs Bowden You were always there to talk to.

Mr Mitchell You are a man with an extensive amount of wit who helps students to develop character.

Mr Earley Thank you for believing in me. Your continued efforts and involvement with individual students have a huge positive impact.
