‘Youth Ascends’ is the council’s youth forum for children and young people with SEND. They meet fortnightly to raise issues and challenge decision makers to make a difference for children and young people with SEND in our city. To increase the number of voices within that area, they have created the SEND forum which is a termly activity based session for a wider cohort of children and young people. It’s held in the student union at City College where there are pool tables, dart boards, arts and crafts and air hockey. Snacks are available too!

It’s all free and there are youth workers there that will have informal conversations if appropriate with the young people who attend, asking them about changes they would like to see for example.

The first session was held last month and around 10 children and young people attended so it’s not too busy. Parents and carers are welcome to stay and engage in the activities if they wish or children can be dropped off.
