Fundraising – Amnesty International

Flo McKenzie 6JD has sent me a short report from the DHSB Amnesty International Group.

She said, “Members of the group collectively planned and carried out a coffee morning selling cake, coffee, clothes, toys and household items as well as doing a raffle at The Institute in Kingsand last week. They raised just over £320. There is another event planned for over 16s only at the Underground music venue with some bands from the school such as The Native, to raise more for Amnesty International. This is planned with the DHSG Amnesty youth group as we’ve decided to work together as much as possible.”

Ten Tors Training

On a weekend that most schools and organisations decided to cancel their training, Mr Ames and Mr Clifford amended the routes and plans to enable the training walk to take place.

Mr Clifford said, “Training in these conditions make us stronger and more determined to succeed as both individuals and as teams”.

Swimming

Well done to our swimming team who competed at the Devonport Royal Swimming Association gala held at the Plymouth Life Centre.

The team didn’t finish in the top three but competed well and enjoyed the competition.

Mr Carpenter would like to thank a parent, Mrs Williams, who helped to coordinate the event.

Mrs Williams said, “I was impressed with how well the team worked together and it was great to the see the school being represented in swimming against other teams such as Plymouth College who have a strong swimming programme”.

Football

Congratulations to our Year 11 team who won the Plymouth Cup semi-final 7 – 0 against Lipson Academy.

Unfortunately the U16 team was knocked out of the national basketball cup after a very close and competitive game.

Mr Anderson said. “I am so proud of this team. They played so well tonight. It could have gone either way”.

Hockey

It was a good day of competition at the County Hockey Finals. The A team finished as runners up losing on penalty strokes in the final to West Buckland.
