Wow! What a night!! Over 70 students were involved in our Summer Recital concert on Thursday 18th June at Stoke Damerel Church. Over the half-term break, fifteen of our Year 12 students travelled to the Chamonix region of the Alps to undertake their Gold Duke of Edinburgh’s Award expedition. A bleary-eyed 1am start on Sunday was the start of a real adventure, following the challenging Mont Blanc Tour du Midi route from May 25th to May 28th, the group completed an exceptional 90km in mountainous terrain—well exceeding the typical 70 to 80km standard for a Gold expedition. Well done to all that took part in the Plymouth Half Marathon and 10K run last Sunday. Staff and students took part in the event which took place at the weekend. The Year 11 GCSE Food Preparation & Nutrition students were invited to use the kitchen one last time before they leave, to bake sweet treats for a mini bake off. The DHSB Ski Trip 2026 During the Easter holiday, 43 students and 6 members of staff travelled to Pila, Italy for fun on the slopes. The group spent 26 hours travelling to Pila which has a bewitching natural landscape with a magnificent view sweeping the Alps, from Mont Blanc to monte Rosa and the Matterhorn. Happy 130th Birthday DHSB! DHSB turned 130 years old on the 16th January. We celebrated this milestone birthday with a reunion event for former staff and pupils on the 28th March. Year 12 Students Design and Build Satellite in Global Competition This week marked an extraordinary milestone for six of our Year 12 students - Luke, Kenzou, Ben, Tom, Leo and Rohan - who successfully designed and built their very own satellite as part of the CanSat project. DHSB students headed to the polls today to cast their vote in the 2026 Plymouth Youth Parliament elections. Of the 11 candidates standing this year, two are from DHSB - Finbar and Logan. Students awarded Gold and Silver in Round 1 of the British Physics Olympiad. At the end of the Autumn Term, students from DHSB took part in the British Physics Olympiad.
